It is important to have a good, positive atmosphere when students enter your classroom. We need to feel like the classroom is a place where they feel they can be an active participant and not a passive observer. Students need to know that they are part of a community like an athlete is to his or her team and that their opinion matters. Teachers should be excited by what they are teaching because that passion can easily be transferred to the students being taught. It's also imperative for a us to make his or her classroom inviting. Lighting, sound, smell can be important along with simple acts of appreciation like baking cookies for your kids and allowing them to drink water.
Classroom managment is one of the most difficult aspects of teaching but the best classroom managers are the ones who don't treat their students the same. Students come from different backgrounds, different home settings, and have different learning styles. When managing a classroom, we should focus on a few things. We should have a good respectful relationship with their students where there is no fear to ask questions or be insulted. Teachers also need to have a high standard for their students but allow them to have a voice in the classroom. Most importantly, students need to have some fun when learning new concepts. It doesn't have to be dry in order to be good. Connect your lesson to a real life scenario so your kids can see the importance of what they're learning. Teachers need to connect with their kids so don't be afraid to tell a joke or a funny story about yourself. Humanize yourself and you will find that your kids will be easier to manage.
